Anisogamy
A biological condition where there is a difference in the size of gametes between males (small gametes) and females (large gametes).
Sexual Dimorphism
Differences in size or appearance between males and females of the same species.
Kin Selection
A type of natural selection that favors altruistic behaviors toward relatives, thereby enhancing the survival of shared genes.
Life History Theory
A theoretical framework that describes how organisms allocate resources among growth, maintenance, and reproduction over their lifetime.
Mating System
The way in which a species structures its mating relationships, including monogamy, polygyny, polyandry, and polygynandry.
Polyandry
A mating system in which a female mates with multiple males.
Polygyny
A mating system in which a male mates with multiple females.
Altricial
Describes offspring that are born in a helpless state and require significant parental care, typical of primates.
