What is the purpose of the membrane?
To separate the internal and external environments of the cell(controls, what goes in and what goes out)
How does the arrangement of the phospholipids impact the membrane?
Membranes are selectively Premable because of the phospholipids and how they arranged in the bilayer
What are the requirements for molecules to pass through the bilayer?
They have to be small nonpolar molecules
What does the phosphate boiler also include within it
And includes a bunch of different proteins
What is the purpose of proteins to be included within the buyer?
They help large polar molecules like ions to pass through the channel protein and transport protein
What do nonpolar tails phospholipids do?
They block charged molecules/ions in polar molecules from passing through the bilayer because they don’t interact
Small polar uncharged molecules can pass through….
The bilayer in small amounts
where are some rules included?
Plants, bacteria, and fungi
What is the purpose of cell walls
To provide both structure and a barrier for some substances, they also prevent lysis
Lysis
Breaking or bursting of a cell
