An externally marked tiered, activity-based assessment focusing on practical skills in scientific investigations, data analysis, and health and safety, to be completed in the final year of study.

Practical Investigation

A component of the assessment involving formulating a plan, analyzing and evaluating data, and working under controlled conditions, to be completed individually with limited group work allowed.

Data Analysis

An assessment segment where learners analyze data using mathematical methods, draw conclusions, evaluate evidence quality, and suggest improvements, to be done individually.

Risk Assessment

A part of the assessment where learners assess and manage risks associated with data collection and practical techniques, identifying hazards, suggesting control measures, and following health and safety procedures, to be completed individually.
