traits controlled by multiple different genes (more than one gene controls a trait)
ex:
height and weight - determined by environment
Hair color, eye color, skin color - melanin controls how much color it has
Characteristics determined by genes and the environment
ex:
Sun → tanner (more melanin produced to protect skin from UV rays)
some alleles are not fully dominant and others are not fully recessive
neither allele is dominant or recessive
When they cross → blend
ex:
RR - Red
WW - White
RW - Pink
phenotypes produced by both alleles (in the same individual) are clearly expressed
ex:
BB - black chicken
WW - white chicken
BW - speckled black and white chicken
more than two alleles exist for the same trait (each individual only inherits 2, but more exist)
