Copyright Transfer
The process by which a copyright owner transfers ownership rights of their copyrighted material to another party.
Assignment of Copyright
The act of transferring copyright ownership in whole or in part from the original owner to another party.
License of Copyright
An agreement that allows one party to use copyrighted material owned by another party, under specified conditions.
Moral Rights
Rights that protect the personal and reputational value of a work for the author, including the right to attribution and the right to object to derogatory treatment.
Collective Management Organizations (CMOs)
Organizations that manage copyright and related rights on behalf of multiple rights holders.
Infringement of Copyright
The unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of copyrighted material, which violates the copyright owner's rights.
Fair Use
A legal doctrine that allows limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the rights holders for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research.
Statutory Fair Use
Specific exemptions outlined in the law that permit certain uses of copyrighted material under defined conditions.
Plagiarism
The act of using someone else's language, thoughts, or ideas without proper attribution, presenting them as one's own work.
Intellectual Dishonesty
Engaging in misrepresentation of others' work, such as through plagiarism, which can undermine academic or professional integrity.
