Law of Dominance

• a pattern of heredity in which only one gene of an allele is expressed 

Due to the Law of Dominance what happens in the heterozygous condition?

• In heterozygous individuals, one allele of a gene may express itself and mask the presence of the other allele (mask the recessive allele.)

Law of Segregation and Recombination

• alleles separate during meiosis and recombine during fertilization 

Law of Independent Assortment

• the law that states that genes separate randomly of one another in meiosis and may be inherited independently of one another 

Incomplete dominance

• type of inheritance in which one allele for a trait is not completely expressed over its paired allele. Results in a 3rd phenotype which is a combination of both alleles.

Codominance 

type of inheritance where both alleles are expressed at the same time in the heterozygous individual
