Law of Dominance
a pattern of heredity in which only one gene of an allele is expressedÂ
Due to the Law of Dominance what happens in the heterozygous condition?
In heterozygous individuals, one allele of a gene may express itself and mask the presence of the other allele (mask the recessive allele.)
Law of Segregation and Recombination
alleles separate during meiosis and recombine during fertilizationÂ
Law of Independent Assortment
the law that states that genes separate randomly of one another in meiosis and may be inherited independently of one anotherÂ
Incomplete dominance
type of inheritance in which one allele for a trait is not completely expressed over its paired allele. Results in a 3rd phenotype which is a combination of both alleles.
CodominanceÂ
type of inheritance where both alleles are expressed at the same time in the heterozygous individual
