Nuclear Family

only has parents and their children

Extended Families

includes extended family members such as grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins

Step Family

families brought together due to remarriage

SIngle-Parent Family

one parent raises the child either by choice and circumstances

Adoptive Family

at least one child is adopted, reasons for adoption are poverty, incapability to conceive, etc.

Foster Family

at least one child is legally a temporary member of the household for a few days to the child’s entire childhood

LGBTQIA+ Family

at least one parent’s SOGIE is LGBTQIA+
