What are bacterial diseases?
Bacterial diseases are illnesses caused by harmful bacteria, and many are becoming resistant to antibiotics.
What are the symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning?
Fever, stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhoea caused by toxins secreted by the bacteria.
How is Salmonella spread?
By bacteria found in raw meat, eggs, and unhygienic conditions.
How is Salmonella prevented?
By vaccinating poultry against Salmonella, keeping raw meat away from cooked food, avoiding washing raw meat, washing hands and surfaces after handling it, and cooking food thoroughly.
What are the symptoms of gonorrhoea?
Thick yellow or green discharge from the vagina or penis, and pain when urinating.
How is gonorrhoea spread?
It is a sexually transmitted disease spread through unprotected sexual contact.
How is gonorrhoea prevented?
By using contraception such as condoms and treating with antibiotics (previously penicillin, though resistant strains are developing).
