Acts of the Apostles
Book in the New Testament that describes the early days of Christian community.
Disciples
Jesus calls each of us to be his disciples and to be his friends. As Jesus’ disciple you are not only to serve him but to spend time with him too. People who know, love, and follow Jesus.
Apostles
12 of Jesus’ closest friends. Were chosen by Jesus. Are also disciples.
Doctrine
The revealed teachings of Christ, as Catholics we are obliged to believe.
Epistles
Letters to the early Christians that are in the New Testament. Most were written before the first Gospel, and most are Paul’s. Peter, James, John, and Jude also wrote some of them.
Eternal Life
Living joyfully in grace and friendship God in the world and heaven when we dies.
Evangelists
The proclaimer of Good News. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are examples.
Faith
A gift of God that helps us believe in him.

Jesus and his Mission
Proclaim the Good News, and make known the reign of God. It started when he was baptized at 30. His mission only lasted for 3ish years.
Incarnation
The Son of God, Jesus, being born as a full human being in order to save us.
Inerrancy
The teaching of the Church that the Bible teaches the truth and faith necessary for our salvation without error.
Infancy Narratives
Are the accounts of infancy and childhood of Jesus that appear in the first two chapters of Matthew’s and Luke’s Gospels.
Inspiration
The action of God moving the human authors of the Bible to communicate what he wanted to make known.
Kingdom of God
A spiritual kingdom based on faith and love. It’s in heaven.
Mother of God
Mary or the new Eve.
New Testament
Story of God’s perfect revelation in Jesus Christ and the Early Church. It has 27 books, and 4 types of books.

Middle class Jews, loved the Torah (law), added 613 regulations, believed in angels, and resurrection.

One who represents the people in offering Sacrifices to God.

One who hears God’s word and proclaims it.
King
One who has the greatest power and authority.
Sacraments
A sacred sign given by Jesus to help us encounter God.
Sacred Scripture
The word of God written by humans who were inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit.
Synoptic
Means “Same view”, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are the Synoptic Gospels.
Temptations
Person or things that entices us to do what is wrong or omit what is good.
Tradition
The Word of God handed down by the Church from the time of the Apostles through teachings, creeds, and liturgy.
Trinity
The mystery of one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Zealot
Freedom fighters who sometimes used violence to overthrow Rome’s control of Palestine.
How/Why was Jesus both divine and human?
Jesus is divine because he is the Son of God and perfect, he also performed miracles. . He is human because of his flesh, eat, sleep, and feel.
Towns important to Jesus’ life
Nazareth where he grew up, Jerusalem where Jesus died, Bethlehem where he was born, and Capernaum where he did his public ministry. God Sent Jesus (order of Galilee, Samaria, Judea).
Similar in the Gospels
Matthew, Mark, Luke are synoptic. Matthew and John were Apostles. They all proclaim the Good News.
Different in the Gospels
John was very long compared to the others. They are all from different perspectives
What are the Gospels Symbols?
Man, Lion, Ox, Eagle.
What were the Gospels Audiences?
Jewish Converts, Persecuted Christians, Gentiles Christians, Christians defending their faith.
Catechumen
A person who is looking to become better or change from one religion to another.
