Ethnic Neighborhood

A geographic area where an ethnic group resides, typically characterized by shared culture.

Indigenous Community

The original inhabitants native to a region who maintained a distinct and historical culture before colonization.

Place Making

The process of creating quality public spaces by implementing social, economic, and cultural meaning through involvement of the community.

Traditional Architecture

An architectural style created with local materials that reflect a culture's history, values, beliefs, and environment.

Post-Modern Architecture

An architectural style emphasizing complexity, posing as a rejection of the minimal and uniform ideals of modern architecture.

Centripetal Force

Positive factors unifying society and bringing people together.

Centrifugal Force

Negative factors dividing society and pushing people and regions apart.

Colonialism

The process in which a sovereign country places control over another for economic, political, and/or social gain, exploiting its people and resources.

Imperialism

The policy in which a country expands their control over another through forceful means.
