What is nominal data?
Categories of data represented by frequencies that have no numerical value, e.g. boys and girls.
What is ordinal data?
Data that can be ranked or ordered into ascending or descending order but the intervals between data are not necessarily equal, and is not a recognisable scale, e.g. times for first, second and third in a race.
What is interval data?
Data that has equal intervals between scores on a recognisable scale, but has no true zero point, e.g. temperature.
What is ratio data?
Data that has equal intervals between scores on a recognisable scale, and has a true or absolute zero point, e.g. speed (mph).
