Hi, thanks for coming in today. Can you tell me a little about yourself?
I have experience working in customer service and retail, where I learned how to multitask, stay organized, and make people feel welcome. I also worked as a nanny for my little cousin, which taught me patience and how to connect with kids. I’m excited about this role because I enjoy working with families and children, and I hope to build a future career in the healthcare field
What interests you about working in pediatrics?
I’ve always loved working with kids and families. I know doctor’s visits can sometimes be stressful for children, so I’d love to help create a welcoming, positive environment. This role is a great fit because it lets me use my organizational and communication skills while also being part of a team that cares for kids and supports their health and well-being
his job can be very fast-paced with phones ringing, patients checking in, and doctors needing help. How do you handle multiple tasks at once?
In retail, I was often balancing customers at the register, answering questions, and stocking. I learned how to stay calm, prioritize urgent needs, and communicate clearly so no one feels ignored. I’d bring that same approach here to make sure both families and staff are supported while ensuring that each task gets completed efficiently
Tell me about a time you dealt with an upset customer or parent
I listened without interrupting, apologized, and fixed the mistake as quickly as possible. Staying calm and respectful helped turn the situation around, and the customer left happy. I’d use the same approach if a parent here was upset about wait times or scheduling to ensure their concerns are addressed effectively
How would you calm down a nervous child in the waiting room?
I'd greet them with a smile, talk to them at their level, and maybe offer a distraction like coloring or a toy. A calm, friendly approach helps both the child and the parent feel more comfortably creating a welcoming atmosphere and easing any anxiety about the visit
What would you do if a parent is upset about wait times?
I’d listen patiently, acknowledge their concern, and explain the situation honestly. If possible, I’d check with the nurse or doctor for updates, so the parent feels informed and respected
How do you handle confidential information (HIPAA)?
I always make sure patient information is kept private—whether it’s by speaking discreetly, keeping documents secure, or only sharing information with authorized staff
Why should we hire you for this position?
I’m organized, dependable, and people-oriented. I bring strong customer service skills and real experience working with kids. I’d make sure families feel welcome from the moment they walk in, while keeping the front desk running smoothly so the doctors and nurses can focus on patient care
