Unconditioned Stimulus 

EVENT that AUTOMATICALLY triggers a response

Unconditioned response (UR):

the AUTOMATIC RESPONSE it’s self

Conditioned Stimulus (CS)

A neutral thing that is pair with the unconditioned stimulus after training will create the same response on it’s own (CONDITIONED EVENT)

Conditioned Response (CR)

the response to to a Condition stimulus (event). Confirms that there is a contingency between the the CS and US

Acquisition

Process where a contingency between a CS and US is learned 

When is most of the learning of a contingency done

in the early stages

What cases only need 1 trail for a contingency to be formed?

Rats eating something that is poisonous and knowing to forever avoid. 

What is Extinction

The LOST of the CR when CS no longer predicts the us 

What happens to the CR overtime in extinction

Response gets weaker and weaker over time

Does extinction erase orignal learning?

No a new inhibitory response is learned that suppresses og association

Spontaneous Recovery

Quick recovery of a CR after the ”rest” period of extinction

Learning to tell the difference between similar stimuli 

Phobias

The absolute fear of something, Can form through classical conditioning 

REACQUISITION

The reintroduction of conditioning trials after extinction has occurred.

Sensitization
