Classical Conditioning
A learning process that involves associating an event with another event.
Unconditioned Stimulus (US)
A stimulus that automatically triggers a response without prior learning.
Unconditioned Response (UR)
An unlearned, naturally occurring response to an unconditioned stimulus.
Conditioned Stimulus (CS)
A previously neutral stimulus that, after association with an unconditioned stimulus, comes to trigger a conditioned response.
Conditioned Response (CR)
A learned response to a previously neutral stimulus after conditioning.
John Watson's Quote
Believed differences in learning experiences were solely responsible for differences in behavior.
Food Aversion
A special case of classical conditioning where a subject associates a specific food with illness after one pairing.
Generalization in Classical Conditioning
The tendency for a conditioned response to be elicited by stimuli similar to the original conditioned stimulus.
Experimentation with Pets
Using pets in experiments to observe classical conditioning responses from stimuli like sounds and actions.
Disgust as a Response
Reaction studied by Paul Rozin, indicating learned feelings of disgust toward certain stimuli.
