a fair test
Controls all but one variable when attempting to answer a scientific question.
Only changes one variable, allowing the person conducting the test to know that no other variable has affected the results of the test.
Allows only the independent variable to affect the dependent variable.
Can usually be achieved by keeping all other variables constant.
