Positive Integers
Numbers greater than zero, e.g. 1, 2, 3, …
Whole Numbers
Non-negative integers including zero, e.g. 0, 1, 2, …
Negative Integers
Numbers less than zero, e.g. -1, -2, -3, …
Rational Numbers
Numbers that can be expressed in the form a/b where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0.
Irrational Numbers
Numbers that cannot be expressed as a fraction of two integers.
Real Numbers
The set of all rational and irrational numbers.
Prime Numbers
Numbers greater than 1 that have no factors other than 1 and themselves.
Composite Numbers
Numbers that have more than two distinct factors.
Highest Common Factor (HCF)
The greatest number that divides two or more given numbers without leaving a remainder.
Lowest Common Multiple (LCM)
The smallest number that is a multiple of two or more given numbers.
Square Root
A number that, when multiplied by itself, gives the original number, e.g., √36 = 6.
Percentage
A way of expressing a number as a fraction of 100.
Mean
The average value calculated by adding all numbers and dividing by the count.
Median
The middle value of an ordered data set.
Mode
The value that appears most frequently in a data set.
Angle of Elevation
The angle formed by a horizontal line and the line of sight when looking up.
Angle of Depression
The angle formed by a horizontal line and the line of sight when looking down.
Probability
A measure of how likely an event is to occur, between 0 and 1.
Statistics
The study of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, presenting and organizing data.
Cumulative Frequency
A running total of frequencies that helps to find medians, quartiles, and percentiles.
Vector
A quantity that has both magnitude and direction.
Matrix
A rectangular array of numbers arranged in rows and columns.
Linear Equation
An algebraic equation in which the highest power of the variable is one.
