digestive + respiratory
not physically connected
Respiratory system allows digestive system to obtain oxygen in order to function.
Digestive system allows cells within the respiratory system to obtain glucose and other nutrients in order to function
respiratory + circulatory
Capillaries connect with respiratory system at the alveoli
Gas exchange: oxygen move into blood from the lungs, carbon dioxide move from blood into the lungs
circulatory + digestive
Capillaries connect with the small and large intestine
blood deliver oxygen to the cells of digestive system to allow them to function
Capillaries close to the surface allow nutrients to be absorbed from digestive system and be transported to the body
circulatory + muculoskeletal
muscles require lots of oxygen and nutrients in order to contract, capillaries deliver that oxygen
capillaries remove high amounts of carbon dioxide that muscles produce
skeletal muscles push blood in veins against gravity
nervous + musculoskeletal
nervous system connects to muscles telling them to contract or relax
contraction/relaxation of muscles allows for movement at the joints of the skeletal system
circulatory + excretory
kidneys remove waste from blood and excrete it as urine
capillaries deliver oxygen and nutrients for the kidneys to function
kidneys can control blood pressure by reabsorbing varying amounts of ions and water
