Her son James VI of Scotland was born in 1566 (had an heir)

Anointed Queen of Scotland and France , but was forced to abdicate in 1567, escaped to England in 1568.

The Catholic countries of Spain and France wanted Mary to replace Elizabeth (Plots against Elizabeth)

Mary QoS imprisoned in England so can’t raise an army with foreign Catholic support.

Elizabeth unwilling to depose anointed queen (chosen by God, crowned Queen in a religious ceremony)
