Preterite Tense
A past tense used to express completed actions.
Regular Preterite Endings for -ar verbs
-Ă©, -aste, -Ăł, -amos, -aron.
Regular Preterite Endings for -er/-ir verbs
-Ă, -iste, -iĂł, -imos, -ieron.
Stem-Changing Verbs in the Preterite
-ir verbs that change stem in third person forms: e > i, o > u.
Irregular Preterite Verb: Hacer
Conjugation: hice, hiciste, hizo, hicimos, hicieron.
Demonstrative Adjectives
Words that describe or point out nouns; must agree in gender and number.
Demonstrative Pronouns
Used in place of a noun, showing ownership or location; marked with accents.
Key Uses of the Imperfect Tense
Descriptions, habitual actions, and ongoing actions in the past.
When to use the Preterite
For completed actions, single events, and interruptions to ongoing actions.
Ir/Ser Preterite Conjugation
Both verbs share the same irregular conjugation: fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fueron.
Examples of Regular Preterite Verbs
Example of 'hablar': hablĂ©, hablaste, hablĂł, hablamos, hablaron; Example of 'comer': comĂ, comiste, comiĂł, comimos, comieron.
