A simple form of armor made up of tiny iron rings

1200s - more coverage and made of steel, highly protective against arrows

Targe

A small shield associated with scottish infantry that is strapped to the arm

Misericord

wooden structure/ decoration on the underside of a folding seat in church to provide comfort during long period of prayer

Altarpiece

A large pictorial image on top of an altar in the form of a screen with hinges in the 1300s. Scenes included donor figures and sacred scenes

Diptych

Panel piece of artwork with x number of parts - used as alterpieces

Grisaille

Style of stained glass with a light background and geometric patterns / gray color

Donor

People donating or commissioning artwork - positioned outside the central sacred scene or appearing in separate panels
