A Serbian nationalist group that wanted to unite all Slavs under Serbia.

In June 28, 1914, Gavrilo Princip, a Black Hand member, killed the Archduke of Austria-Hungary in Sarajevo, starting World War I

The sinking of the Lusitania:

• Germany u-boat (submarine) warfare:

On May 7, 1915, a German U-boat sank the British ship Lusitania, killing many, including Americans, and increasing tensions with Germany.

Germany used submarines to sink enemy and neutral ships, including those carrying supplies to Britain, leading to conflicts with other countries.

Zimmermann telegram/US reaction:

 In 1917, Germany sent a secret message to Mexico urging it to attack the U.S., but Britain intercepted it, angering Americans and pushing the U.S. toward war.
