Architecture
Is the art, science or profession of planning, designing and constructing buildings in their totality taking into account their environment, in accordance with the principles of utility, strength and beauty.
Architect (RLA)
a person professionally and academically qualified, registered and licensed, with a certificate of registration and professional identification card issued by PRBOA and PRC.
Architect of record (AOR)
registered and licensed
directly and professionally responsible for the total design of the project
assume civil liability for plans, specifications and contract docs signed and sealed.
Architect Incharge of Construction
registered and licensed
responsible and liable for the construction supervision
Consulting Architect (CA)
registered and licensed
or a person permitted under ra 9266
professionally and academically qualified with exceptional expertise or specialization in any branch of architecture
consulting architect assumes no civil liability under art 1723 of the civil code unless the consulting architect intervenes with the contract of the architect of record
Structural Conceptualization
Act of conceiving, choosing and developing the type, disposition, arrangement and proportioning of the structural elements giving due consideration to safety, cost effectiveness, functionality, and aesthetics.
Architectural Firm
Can be a sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation.
Authorship
refers to the author / authors of a set of plans or specification either personally made or UNDER IMMEDIATE SUPERVISION.
Board
refers to the PRBoa (Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture).
Commission
refers to PRC (Professional Regulation Commission)
Service Agreement
notarized written contract stipulating scope of services and compensation.
Integrated and Accredited Professional Organization (IAPOA)
Existing Official National Organization of all Architects of the Philippines. All registered and licensed architects shall be automatically members.
Association
any formal grouping of two or more architect or firm working on a joint venture on a project basis (commonly known as collaboration)
Architecture Company
Group of 2 or more architects duly registered with SEC and then with PRBOA.
Architectural Corporation
group of professionals in Architecture and Allied Professions duly registered with SEC and then with PRBOA.

Architectural Interiors
detailed planning and design of the indoor/ enclosed areas of any proposed building / structure including retrofit or renovation work and which shall cover all architecture and utility aspects
Architectural Plans
Two (2) dimensional representation reflecting a proposed development/ redevelopment at a height 10-15 meters above the finished floor
Certificate of Registration
A certificate with a registration number issued by PRC through PRBOA, signifying that the individual has passed the licensure exam and is registered to practice the architecture profession.
Code of Ethical Conduct
A document which forms part of the architect's national code contains norms and principles governing the practice of architecture in the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Sustaining and progressing learning process maintains, enhances or increases knowledge and continuing ability of the architects.
CPD Providers
Entities, agencies, organizations that have been credited/ registered with PRBOA to deliver seminars, lectures, and CPD modules.
Diversified Architectural Experience
post baccalaureate, pre-licensure experience of 2 years (3,840 hours), pre-baccalaureate experience was considered before, but ended last October 2018
Diversified Architectural Experience
Master's Degree holder in the field of Architecture would be credited as 1 year Diversified Architectural Experience.
Foreign Architect
Architect who is not a Filipino citizen nor a registered and licensed architect, but who is registered and licensed in their home country.
Filipino Counterpart
Local Philippine Architect, partnership or corporation that must work with the Foreign Architect in Philippine soil.
Ownership
proprietary rights to a person who commissioned the architect shall use the documents for the original project only and shall not be used for repetitive projects using partly or whole.
Planning
Physical planning at site, community or urban level
Proffesional
refers to a person whose name, registration and prof. license number is entered in the PRC Registry book and computerized database, legally authorized to practice the profession.
Professional Identification Card

Site planning
Detailed site development planning surrounds the building but only limited to the property.
Standard Professional Practice
document embodied in the national architect's code

Sole Proprietorship
An individual architect practicing and delivering architectural services, registered in DTI, PRBOA and PRC.
Specialization
Expertise and special knowledge in the field of architecture acquired by formal education and training; or through cpd and experience.
Syllabi
The outlines, topics and concepts of major subjects prescribed in specific course of study as basis for the licensure exam.
