focuses mainly on the use of technology to diagnose and cure diseases, and the services provided by doctors, specialists and hospitals. Individuals are the focus of this approach

Strengths (4)

• enables many illnesses and conditions to be effectively treated

• extends life expectancy

• improves quality of life and HALE

Limitations (4)

• Relies on proffessiona health workers and technology & is therefore costly

• Doesn’t always promote good H&W

• not every condition can be treated

• not always affordable
