Ability to provide a desired consequence

Coercive Power
Ability to provide an unpleasant consequence

Legitimate power
Power is given by a higher authority and may be due to role or position

Referent Power
Power from others' desire to relate to the person

Expert power
Power due to skills and depth of knowledge

Informational Power
Having knowledge that others desire, unavailable elsewhere
