Noun
Refers to a person, place, thing or idea
Examples: Tylenol, Julia, Liam, Popcorn.
Pro Noun
Replaces a noun to avoid repetition
Examples: He, she, they, it, I, me, us, them, him, this, those.
Verb
Shows an action or state of being
Examples: go, snore, run, cook, am, are, should, shall, would.
Adjectives
Describes, modifies, or gives more information about a noun or pronoun
Which one? What kind of? How many? Etc
Examples: The dog was Brown, giant, happy, purple, young.
Adverb
Describes/modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.
It tells how (often), where, when, how, what.
Adverbs often end with -ly
Examples: slowly, quietly, fast, intelligently, almost, peacefully.
Preposition
Shows the relationship of a noun or pro noun to another word. They can indicate time, place, or relationship.
Examples: Between, about, by, on, near, of, to.
Conjunction
Joins two words, ideas or phrases together in a sentence and shows how they are connected.
Examples: Since, though, than, yet, and, but, nor, either.
Interjection
Is a word or phrase that expresses a strong feeling or emotion. It is a short exclamation.
Examples: Ouch, Wow, Amen, Jeepers, Whew, Oh!
