What is an Attitude?
A favorable or unfavorable evaluative reaction towards something or someone(Myers)
What is an Explicit attitude?
It is conscious attitudes that you are aware of
what are Implicit attitudes?
It is unconcious biasses we have that we aren’t aware of

one dimension with 2 endpoints
u cant have both negative and positive attitude
What is bivariate?
two independent dimension
U can have both positive and negative attitudes (low to high)
what are the two attitude measurments?
Explicit
Implicit
what is the Explicit attitude measurement?
self report
problem:social desirability
What is the weakness of the Explicit attitude measurement?
people might not tell the truth & tell lies to make themselves feel/look better —> (social desirability)
what is the Bogus pipeline experiment what were the testing?
testing the truth or lie machine
they got info of their subjects before hand
the subjects stayed truthful to not look bad
what is implicit attitude measure?
indirect measures
ex:modern racism scale

an unconscious test (mostly)

what is dual processing theories?
both implicit and explicit attitudes are separate processes
Differences between Implicit & Explicit?
they don’t always agree
can change independently from one another
explicit attitudes are more predictable compared too implicit because implicit are unconscious
