Ocular Lens
for eyes to look through and provide magnification of the specimen
Objective Lens
magnify the specimen, usually include 4X, 10X, 40X, and 100X
Revolving Nosepiece
holds the objectives and revolves to change the
magnification power
Fine Adjustment Knob
brings specimen into sharp focus
Coarse Adjustment Knob
moves large distance and brings specimen into approximate focus.
(This knob should only be used with 4X and 10X objectives) C is first before F
Stage
supports the microscope slides
Stage Clip
holds microscope slides in place ( with stage)
Stage manipulator knobs
move stage forward/backward and right/left to center the specimen
Condenser
focuses the beam of light on the specimen ( below stage clip * C and C)
Iris Diaphragm
controls the amount of illumination on the specimen. (Closing the iris
diaphragm can increase contrast when viewing a lightly specimen) Below condenser
Light source
turn on/off reflected light and transmitted light
Arm
supports upper parts of the microscope and is used as the handle for carrying
Base
the flat surface that is used to support the microscope during carrying
