parallelogram
a quadrilateral whose opposite sides are both parallel and equal in length

variable
A symbol used to represent a quantity that can change

rectangle
A parallelogram with four right angles, and 2 sets of parallel sides of equal length
Area = bh, (base)x(height)

base
one of the sides on a shape, that is perpendicular to the height

height
The measurement a shape from base to top.

triangle
A polygon with three sides.
Area = 1/2 (base) x (height)

trapezoid
A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides

composite figure
a three-dimensional figure that is the combination of two or more simpler figures

volume
The amount of space an object takes up
Volume = (length) x (width) x (height)

polyhedron
A three-dimensional figure with faces that are polygons

face
A flat surface of a polyhedron

edge
The line segment where two faces of a solid figure meet.

vertex
A point where two or more straight lines meet.

cube
A prism with six square faces

net
pattern obtained when a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat, showing each face of the figure.

surface area
The sum of all the areas of all surfaces of a solid
Surface Area= 2(lengthwidth + lengthheight + width*height)

pyramid
A solid shape with a polygon as a base and triangular faces that come to a point (vertex or apex)
