TERM
Articular Cartilage

This acts as a slippery cushion where bones meet.
TERM
Periosteum
DEFINITION

TERM
Medullary Cavity
DEFINITION
Space inside the diaphysis; filled with yellow bone marrow.
TERM
Endosteum

Membrane found lining the medullary cavity, contains bone forming cells.
TERM
Compact Bone
DEFINITION
layer of densely packed bone found on the outer portion of the bone, and also making up the majority of the diaphysis.

Spongy Bone
DEFINITION
Found in the epiphyses of long bones, also makes up the majority of the short, irregular, flat & sesamoid bones. Made up of trabeculae which hold red bone marrow.
