Hazardous Household Product Symbols (HHPS)

Explosive symbol

If a container is under pressure, it may explode if it’s heated or punctured. If the product expoldes it can send pieces of metal/plastic flying around, which could severely injure someone nearby. ( E.g., Hairspray, Spray paint, and Cooking spray) + FRAME inside the container is dangerous

Corrosive symbol

The product could burn the skin/eyes if it’s touched. It could also burn the throat/stomach if it’s swallowed. ( E.g. Bleach, Drain Cleaner, and Toilet Bowl Cleaner)

Flammable symbol

The product could catch on fire easily if used near heat/flames or spraks. (E.g. Paint thinner,Lighter fluid and Aerosol cans)

Poison symbol

The product is poisonous and could cause you become very sick or die if the product is eaten, drunk, licked, or even smelled. (E.g., AntiFreeze, Bleach, and All-purpose cleaners. + FRAME inside the container is dangerous

Caution symbol

Product could cause temporary injury or even death if you have extreme, prolonged exposure to the product.

Danger symbol

Product may cause temporary injury/permanent injury or death.

Extreme Danger symbol

Product may cause serious injury or death if exposed to small amounts of it.
