  • Giuseppe Mazzini (Leader of Italy) proclaims the Republic to be Rome

  • King of Sardinia at the time (Charles-Albert) - drives out the Austrians in the north and Veneto gains independence

  • Mazzini exiled and France and Austria take back lands from above (Nice)
