Trachea (windpipe) - tube that conducts air from larynx to the bronchi.

right main (primary) bronchus - branch off of trachea at the carina

Carina

right lobar (secondary) bronchus - enter each lobe of lungs

Diaphragm

Larynx

Tracheal cartilage

Left main (primary) bronchus - branch off of trachea at the carina

Left segmental (tertiary) bronchus - enter each lobe of lungs

Bronchiole - lead to terminal bronchioles

Main (primary) bronchus

Lobar (secondary) bronchus

Segmental (tertiary) bronchus

Terminal bronchiole - last part of conducting zone

Respiratory bronchiole - contain few alveoli

Alveolar saccule (sacs) - clusters of alveoli

Respiratory bronchiole - contain few alveoli

Alveolar ducts - lead to alveolar sacs

Alveolar sac - clusters of alveoli

Pulmonary alveoli - thin, pouch-like structures where gas exchange takes place

Cardiac notch

Visceral pleura - covers the surface of each lung

Parietal pleura - lines the thoracic cavity wall

Pleural cavity - space between layers containing pleural fluid

Diaphragm

Parietal pleura - lines the thoracic cavity wall

Right lung

Pleural cavity - space between layers containing pleural fluid
