ser uses
nationality, profession, characteristics of people and things, generalizations, possession, what something is made of, time and date, when or where an event takes place
estar uses
location or spatial relationships, health, physical states, emotional states, certain weather expressions, ongoing actions (progressive tenses)
When ser and estar are used with adjectives
ser is used with general observations about qualities that dont change, estar is used to describe conditions that are variable
