Truman Doctrine

Opposed communist uprisings globally by providing military and financial aid to countries facing communist insurgencies

Marshall Plan

Provided economic aid to rebuild Europe and prevent communist takeovers. Offered aid to allies, eastern European countries under Soviet control and the USSR itself.

Democrat Elections

wanted these types of elections in all European countries

Berlin blockade/airlift

Stalin cut off Western Berlin by land to force the West out of Berlin and East Germany. The US and Britain responded with an airlift to supply West Berlin with necessities.

Korean War

North Korea attacked South Korea in June 1950. The UN, led by the US sent troops. Truman removed General MacArthur in 1951 due to public criticism of his policies.
