REFERS TO CITIZEN ARMY TRAINING 1 WHICH REQUIRES ALL ABLE-BODIED GRADE TWELVE STUDENTS, BOTH MALE AND FEMALE, TO UNDERGO MILITARY TRAINING AS A REQUISITE FOR COMPLETION OF SECONDARY EDUCATION.

THE DULY DESIGNATED DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND CITIZENS ARMY TRAINING (DYDCAT – 1) IN A SECONDARY SCHOOL.
CAT – 1 COMMANDANT
QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL APPOINTED BY THE SCHOOL AS HEAD IN CONSULTATION WITH THE CAT – 1 SUPERVISORS AND ASSIGNED CAT – 1 UNIT OF THE SCHOOL CONCERNED.
CAT – 1 INSTRUCTOR
ANY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNED TO ASSIST THE CAT COMMANDANT.
CAT – 1 SUPERVISOR
THE ROTC COMMANDANT OR IN CASE THERE IS NO ROTC UNIT IN A PARTICULAR PROVINCE. THE UNIT COMMANDER OF ANY HOME DEFENSE UNIT OF ANY MAJOR SERVICES HAVING PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OVER SAID PROVINCES, UNDER WHOM A NUMBER OF CAT – 1 UNITS ARE ASSIGNED FOR TRAINING AND INSTRUCTION.
CADET/CADETTE
A MALE CADET OR FEMALE CADETTE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ENROLLED IN THE CAT – 1 FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL.
CADET/CADETTE OFFICER
A MALE CADET OR FEMALE CADETTE WHO AFTER COMPLETING THE REQUIRED CADET/CADETTE OFFICER’S COURSE, IS APPOINTED WITH COMMENSURATE RANK AND BY THE CAT – 1 COMMANDANT AND ENDORSED THROUGH THE DYDCAT – 1 HEAD.
CAT – 1 UNIT
A MILITARY TERM FOR THE UNIT ORGANIZED UNDER THE CAT -1 DIVISION WHICH IS ADMINISTRATIVELY UNDER THE DYDCAT – 1 FOR A SCHOOL BUT OPERATIONALLY UNDER THE CAT – 1 SUPERVISOR.
ROTC COMMANDANT
ANY AFP COMMISSIONED OFFICER ASSIGNED IN A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY, DULY DESIGNATED BY COMPETENT MILITARY AUTHORITY AS HEAD OF ROTC UNIT AND WHO MAY FURTHER BE DESIGNATED AS CAT – 1 SUPERVISOR OF A GROUP OF CAT – 1 UNIT.
ROTC SUPERINTENDENT
HEAD OF ALL ESTABLISHED ROTC AND CAT – 1 UNITS IN THE GREATER MANILA OR THE INFANTRY BRIGADE (SEPARATE) OR THE INFANTRY DIVISION OR COMPARABLE UNITS, OR THOSE HOLDING EQUIVALENT POSITIONS IN THE PC, PM, PAF, AND PA.
SCHOOL
ANY INSTITUTION OF LEARNING, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE.
GRADING
CADETS SHALL DESIGNATE PERIODS IN CONFORMITY WITH THE SYSTEM USED IN THE SCHOOL CONCERNED.
CORPS COMMANDER
Commanding officer of the unit. He/She is responsible for the general welfare and morale of the unit. He/She holds the rank of Cadet/te Colonel (CDT/TE. COL.)
EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Second in command. He/She is the principal assistant and adviser of the Corps. He/She directs and supervises the activities of the unit and its staff.
STAFF 1
he/she is responsible in forming the unit as to what formation his/her superiors deem appropriate.
STAFF 2
Responsible on the gathering, analysis, and reporting of information, internal or external, necessary for the success of activities in the unit. He/She is also called, “Eye of the unit.”
STAFF 3
As operations officer, he/she directs every CAT activities such as pinning of ranks, bivouacs, fancy drills, CAT graduation exercises, campus beautification, and other military related functions.
STAFF 4
As operations officer, he/she directs every As logistics officer, he/she is responsible in securing funds for the unit and as the supply officer, he/she is responsible for issuing the much needed supplies. He/She is also the keeper of the unit’s rifles. activities such as pinning of ranks, bivouacs, fancy drills, CAT graduation exercises, campus beautification, and other military related functions.
COMPANY COMMANDER
He/She is the commanding officer of the company and responsible for the welfare and morale of his company.
COMPANY EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Second in command in the company. He/She assumes the command in the absence of the company commander.
PROVOST MARSHAL
Is the one responsible on enforcing orders issued directly to him/her by his/her superiors.
COLOR OFFICERS
Responsible on proper presentation of colors and standards during activities where colors and standards are involved.
MEDICAL OFFICER
Is the safety officer of the unit. He/She is responsible on the prevention of accidents within the unit and applies the necessary first aid when accidents occur.
PLATOON LEADER
Is the commanding officer of the platoon. He/She is responsible for the general welfare and morale of his/her platoon.
UNIT SERGEANT MAJOR
He/She advises the Corps on the improvement of morale and welfare of the cadet/tes and recommends policies that can contribute to the accomplishment of activities in the company.
COMPANY SERGEANT
He/She advices the company commander on the improvement of morale and welfare of the cadet/tes and recommends policies that can contribute to the accomplishment of activities in the company.
PLATOON SERGEANT
He/She advices the company commander on the improvement of morale anAssists the platoon leader on executing his/her command functions.
CADET PRIVATE
All Grade 12, students who didn’t join and graduated from the Cadet Officer Candidate Course during grade 7 to 11.
CADET OFFICER CANDIDATE COURSE
Grade 7-11 students who will undergo basic military training for one school year and are willing to become an officer of the CAT Corps of Cadets.
PHYSICAL FITNESS TRAINING
Test and training for cadets to maintain a physically fit and healthy body.
BASIC MILITARY COMMANDS
Training for cadets to familiarize them in military commands and orders of the CAT unit
MENTAL TRAINING:
Training for cadets to develop their knowledge and skills as a better cadet, student, and a citizen of our nation. (All cadets are required to memorize, understand, and apply all discussed in the lectures.)
RIFLE TRAINING
Training for cadets to familiarize them in rifle commands used in the unit, fancy or silent drills, proper use of rifle, and proper knowledge of rifle.
LEADERSHIP AND COMMAND TRAINING
Training for cadets to develop self-confidence and to practice their leadership skills as an individual. (Will be discussed in the previous lectures.)
SWORD TRAINING
Training for newly graduated cadets (Junior Officers and Graduated COCCs) to honor all students of the school who will be graduating or moving up. The sword signifies that they are clothed with Command and Authority to serve the whole Cadet Corps with utmost dedication.
Community Service
All cadets should be willing to help the barangay to maintain cleanliness, orderly, and properness to develop responsibility, unity of the group, and respect for one another.
School Service
All cadets should be willing to help the school by cleaning, helping school personnel etc. to develop responsibility, unity of the group, and respect for one another.
National Service
All cadets should be willing to help the country by donating or packing goods for those who are in need. To develop responsibility, unity of the group, and respect for one another.
Camping
All cadets should be responsible for themselves. In this type of activity, all cadets who will join the said camping will experience responsibilities, unity as a group, and respect for each other.
Graduation
All youth who developed themselves as a responsible cadet, student, and a citizen of our nation. Also, all cadets should be well trained with respect for themselves, to the people, and to the country.
Fancy or Silent Drill3
All cadets who are ready to perform with a rifle will be a participant of the said activity to develop snappiness.
PHILIPPINE ARMY
Responsible for the preparation of the effective prosecution of war except as otherwise assigned and in accordance with integrated mobilization of plans for the expansion of peaceful components of the army to meet demands of war.
CHIEF OF STAFF, AFP
executes the President command functions in relation to military strategy, tactics, and operations.
VICE CHIEF OF STAFF
assists the CSAFP and performs his function during the latter’s absence or inability
THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF
exercises general supervision over the joint, administrative and technical staff, GHO
THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF HOME DEFENSE
assists and advises the Chief of Staff, AFP on Reserve Forces, development of the Citizen’s Armed Forces, socio-economic military programs, civic actions, and other home defense related activities.
SECRETARY OF JOINT STAFF
Staff is the executive officer of the CSAFP, TDCS, and DCS HD.
THE JOINT STAFF
The General Staff of the AFP is known as the Joint Staff, AFP (JSAFP). It is composed of CSAFP, VCSAFP, DCS, and the heads of Joint Staff divisions.

Personal qualities of direct value to the leader in gaining the willing obedience, confidence, respect, and loyalty cooperation of his men to accomplish the mission.
LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES
Fundamental guidelines for the selection of appropriate actions and orders in the proper exercise of command.
MORALE
State of mind of the individual. This depends upon his attitude towards everything that affects him.
DISCIPLINE
An individual of group attitude that inspires prompt obedience to orders and initiation of prompt action in absence of orders.
LEADER
A person who influences or directs others.
COMMANDER
Person formally designated to direct the activities of a unit of any size.
COMMAND
Is an authority, a member of the armed forces lawfully exerts over subordinates by virtue of his rank or assignment. The commander is responsible for initiating the appropriate actions and for supervising all the activities within his command.
