Tundra

Cold temperatures; doesn’t peak above 10ºC short summer growing season. Grasses/sedges common; insects abundant in spring and summer. Northerly.

Taiga

Still cold temperatures, doesn’t peak above 16ºC; late spring - early autumn growing season. Fur bearing mammals, coniferous trees present. Hibernation and migration is common. Northernly but not arctic.

Temperate Deciduous forest

Throughout the world; temperatures between -6 and 21ºC. 46 - 96mm of precipitation per month; mid spring to mid-autumn growing season. Deers, foxes, squirrels, deciduous trees common.

Grassland

Grasses/trees common; average temperatures between -13 and 18ºC. Precipitation varies between 12 - 66mm per month. Grasses and trees are common; so are pronghorn and ground squirrels.

Desert

Very hot temperatures; very little precipitation. Virtually no growing season; very limited wildlife such as snakes and coyotes. Driest biome on earth.

Rainforest

Wettest biome on earth; stable temperatures between 26 - 27 degrees; year round growing season and diverse ecosystems present. Soil is nutrient poor due to leeching.
