Hinge Joint
Allows movement mainly in one direction, like bending and straightening(Elbow and Knee)
Ball and Socket Joint
Movement in all directions, rotations( Shoulder and hip)
Pivot Joint
Rotation around a single axis(Top of neck)
Saddle Joint
Allowing movement back and forth and side-to-side motion(Thumb).
Plane Joint
Bones slide past each other(Wrist and ankles)
Condyloid Joint
Allows movement but no rotation, like bending and side-to side movement(Wrist going up and down and side to side)
Fibrous Joint
A joint where bones are connected by tough fibers and don’t move much, like the joints between skull bones(Immoveable)
Cartilaginous Joint
A joint where bones are connected by cartilage, allowing limited movement, like the joints between the spine bones
