Electromagnetic Force
The relationship between electricity and magnetism.
Magnetic Field
A field produced by electric currents that can change in direction and speed.
Solenoid
A coil of wire with a current that produces a magnetic field.
Electromagnet
A magnet created by wrapping a coil of wire with a current around a core of material that is easily magnetized.
Ferromagnetic Material
A substance that becomes a magnet when exposed to a magnetic field, e.g., iron, nickel, and cobalt.
Current
The flow of electric charge which strengthens the magnetic field.
Hans Christian Ørsted
The scientist who discovered electromagnetism.
Strengthening a Magnetic Field
Increased by increasing the number of coils or loops of wire in a solenoid.
Produces
To use a combination of materials and processes to create something.
