conducts taste sensations, facial expression, tear glands, salivary glands
Vestibulocochlear (CN VIII)
conducts equilibrium and auditory sensations from inner ear to brain.
Glossopharyngeal (CN IX)
receives taste and touch sensations from posterior one-third of the tongue

visceral functions (heart, lungs, digestion, swallowing, speech)
Accessory (CN XI)
innervates trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles (shrugging and neck rotation)
Hypoglossal (CN XII)
tongue movements (speech, swallowing)
