Red Flags for Concussion
Symptoms indicating severe conditions, including neck pain, severe headache, loss of consciousness, vomiting, and seizures.
Neer Impingement Test
A test assessing shoulder pain that indicates impingement of the supraspinatus and long head of biceps brachii tendon.
Hawkin’s Kennedy Test
A test for pathology of both supraspinatus and long head of biceps brachii tendon, indicated by pain during internal rotation.
Speed’s Test
A test assessing pain along the head of biceps brachii tendon, indicating inflammation or possible labral tear.
Yergeson’s Test
A test for bicep tendinitis or a possible SLAP tear indicated by pain or popping during resisted supination.
O’Brien Test
A test for labral pathology indicated by pain and clicking during resisted downward force.
Mil’s Test
A test for lateral epicondylalgia or tennis elbow indicated by pain at the lateral epicondyle.
Polk’s Test
A two-phase test assessing for lateral and medial epicondylalgia through lifting with different palm orientations.
Lachman’s Test
A test for ACL integrity shown by tibial anterior translation and soft end-feel.
Posterior Sag Test
A test for PCL injury indicated by posterior sag of the tibia when the knee is flexed.
Valgus Stress Test
Assesses MCL integrity indicated by pain, with adduction of the knee greater than normal.
McMurray’s Test
A test for meniscal tears indicated by pain, snapping, or clicking during knee flexion and rotation.
Anterior Drawer Test
A test for ATFL injury indicating excessive anterior movement of the ankle.
Talar Tilt Test
A test for ligament injuries indicating pain or excessive laxity in eversion or inversion.
Thompson Squeeze Test
A test for Achilles tendon rupture indicated by lack of plantarflexion when calf is squeezed.
Tap Test
A test for tibia/fibula fracture indicated by significant pain at the ankle joint with a tap.
Kleiger’s Test
A test for high ankle sprain or syndesmosis injury indicated by pain at the site of tibia/fibula connection.
