Sample Space
The set of all possible outcomes of a random experiment.
College Schedule Example
Lists the number of sections available for courses to determine the different possible schedules.
Sample Space Example 1
A visual tool used to represent the possible outcomes of an experiment.
Conditional Probability
The probability of an event occurring given that another event has already occurred.
Two-Way Frequency Table
A table that displays the frequencies of two categorical variables.
Probability
The chance of an event happening divided by the total number of possible outcomes.
Combination
A selection of items where the order does not matter.
Permutation
A selection of items where the order matters.
Independent Events
Events where the outcome of one does not affect the outcome of the other.
Dependent Events
Events where the outcome of one affects the outcome of the other.
Mutually Exclusive Events
Events that cannot occur at the same time.
System of Equations
A set of two or more equations with the same variables.
Solving Systems of Equations Algebraically
A method for solving systems of equations by isolating one variable and substituting its expression into another equation.
Elimination in Solving Systems of Equations
A method for solving systems of equations using addition or subtraction to eliminate one variable.
Solving Systems of Equations Graphically
A method for solving systems of equations by graphing each equation and finding the point(s) of intersection.
Solve absolute value equations
A statement involving an absolute value expression that can be solved by considering both positive and negative cases.
Slope-Intercept Form
A line equation written in the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Point-Slope Form
A line equation that represents a straight line using slope and one point on the line.
