Articulations
Also known as joints.
Synarthrotic Joints
Immoveable joints where bones are held tightly together by osseous tissue.
Amphiarthrotic Joints
Slightly moveable joints found between the proximal and distal ends of the radius and ulna.
Diarthrotic Joints
Fully moveable joints that allow for considerable motion.
Fibrous Joints
Joints interconnected by connective tissue fibers, often osseous fibers.
Cartilaginous Joints
Joints that have hyaline cartilage between their bones to cushion the articulation.
Synovial Joints
Joints where the bones are separated by a synovial pouch filled with synovial fluid.

Sutures
Fibrous immoveable (synarthrotic) joints.

Gomphoses
The joint between a tooth and the mandible or maxilla.
Syndesmoses
Fibrous slightly moveable joints.
Synchrondroses
Cartilaginous, immoveable joints occurring between growing points of bones.
Epiphyseal Plates
Growing points of bones where synchrondroses occur.
Symphyses
Cartilaginous, slightly moveable joints between the vertebrae and public bones.
Pubic Symphysis
The joint between the public bones.
Bursae
Small pouches that may accompany the synovial joint to help cushion it.
Bursitis
The painful condition caused by inflammation of bursae.
