Assembly File - A composition of part files within an Inventor file. Ends with file extension .iam.

AutoCAD Drawing File - The default file type for AutoCAD, which can consist of several elements that comprise a 2D drawing. Inventor can save drawing files in this format for connectivity with AutoCAD. Ends with file extension .dwg.

Inventor Drawing File - The final product of an Inventor file. Consists of assemblies and presentations. Ends with file extension .idw.

Part File - A base component for an Inventor file. Ends with file extension .ipt.

Presentation File - An exploded (spread-out) assembly which is then used as part of a drawing file. Ends in file extension .ipn.

Project Files - A method for organizing and accessing all files associated with a particular design job or project.

Sketch - A profile containing 2D geometry that is used for creating a body.

Suppress - The act that allows for features to be hidden as well as any dependent features or sketches.

View Cube - A tool that allows one to navigate through preset views in a drawing.

Window Selection - A selection method performed by selecting and dragging from left to right. Any items that are completely inside the window will be selected.
