What are the characteristics common to all living organisms?
Nutrition, respiration, excretion, movement, irritability, growth, reproduction.
What is the basic unit of classification for living organisms?
Species.
What is the role of photosynthesis in plants?
It converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen using sunlight.
How does the circulatory system function in humans?
It transports blood, oxygen, nutrients, and waste products through blood vessels via the heart.
What is the difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration?
Aerobic respiration occurs in the presence of oxygen and produces more energy, while anaerobic respiration occurs without oxygen and produces less energy.
Define osmosis.
The movement of water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration.
What are the main types of joints found in the human skeleton?
Immovable joints, partially movable joints, and moveable joints.
What is a reflex action?
A rapid and involuntary response to a stimulus, mediated by the nervous system.
What is the function of the kidney in humans?
To filter blood and produce urine by removing waste products and excess substances.
What is the importance of the placenta during pregnancy?
It facilitates the exchange of nutrients and oxygen between the mother and developing embryo.
