Higher Olympian. He ruled the sky, rain, and thunder. Weapon was thunder. Wasn’t all powerful. Always victorious.

Zeus and Hera

We’re siblings yet married. They are the same god, like yin and yang

Hera (Juno)

Higher Olympian. She was the goddess of marriage, even though Zeus constantly cheated on her. Normally, she’s rude, but she’s nice in the quest for the Golden Fleece.

Hera’s properties were

The peacock, her city was Argos, and the cow

Neptune (Poseidon)

Higher Olympian. He was the god of the ocean, known as the earth shaker, and had the bull

Hades (Pluto)

Higher Olympian. He was the god of the underworld, NOT death. He was also the god of wealth and precious metals. His wife was Persephone (Proserpine). Occasionally called “Dis”

Athena ()

Olympian. She was the goddess of war, city, handicrafts, agriculture, civilized life, wisdom, & purity. She gave humans bridles to tame horses. She was also known as “Gray-eyed” or “Flahing eyes”, Virgin Maiden. Zeus’ favorite child. Very rude

Athena’s property was

Phoebus Apollo

Olympian. His sister is Artemis. Parents are Zeus & Leto. Born in Delos. Master musician. He was the god of: Archery, healing, light, & prophecy. 

Apollo’s properties were

The laurel (tree), the dolphin & crow. His oracles were Delphi (Greece) and Cumae (Italy), & the sun

Artemis (Dina)

Olympian. Apollo’s twin sister, lady of wild things, protects youth, the moon, Virgin Maiden, Cyprus. Normally kind, but sometimes nasty

Artemis’ property was

Aphrodite (Venus)

Olympian. Said she was born from the sea. Parenas wer Zeus & Dione. She was the goddess of love & beauty. She was married to Vulcan (ugliest god). She always cheated on Vulcan, once with his own brother.

Aphrodite’s properties were

Myrtle (tree), dove, swan, & sparrow

Hermes ()

Olympian. Parents were Zeus & Maia. Winged sandals & a winged hat. Zeus’ messenger. Master thief. Cunning. He was the god of commerce (business), trade, & markets (protects businesses). Divine Herald, escorts the dead to the underworld. The word “Mercurial” came from him. Mercury was named after him because hit him and the planet move really fast. Most frequently seen in mythology, most statues. 

Ares (Mars)

Olympian. Least popular. He was the god of war.

Hephaestus (Vulcan & Mulcibier)

Olympian. He was the god of fire & blacksmithery. Very lame and ugly. Married to Aphrodite. Volcanos were named after him. It is said that he didn’t die, but is resting at he bottom of a volcano

Hestia (Vesta)

Olympian. She was the goddess of health and home. Her temple was an eternal flame. Symbol of Greece. All of her temples were circular, no personality (wasn’t a character), keeper of the flame. Her brothers were Zeus, Poseidon, & Hades. 

Vestal Virgins

Group of women that kept the fire of Hestia burning. Did it until they were 30, started very young. If it went out, that was very very bad. Nuns came from them, they were the first nuns.

Eros (Cupid)

Lesser. He was the god of love, sexual love, & romance. His mom was Venus. Depicted angelically, has a bow

Iris

Lesser. Portrayed as an angel, goddess of rainbow, messenger of Zeus

The 3 Graces

Lesser. Names are Mirth, Splendor, and Good Cheer. Personifications of feelings, all positive emotions

Water. Shapeshifter. Prophet, fortune teller.

Land/Earth. Human, not a god

Land/Earth. Twins. Had a beautiful sister named Hellen. Parents were Zeus and Leda. Known as “Divine twins”. Not gods of something specific. Helpful, helped humans a lot

Land/ Earth. Gray women, witches, all 3 of them out their 6 eyes together to create 1 very strong eye. 1 tooth

Land/Earth. Alluring song. Following the song = rock, then you’d crash and they kill you. They are portrayed as either beautiful woman or bird-woman

Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos determined your life. They are personifications of life
