Abdominal Bar
Part of the operator's stool that provides support.
Dental Chair
An adjustable chair used for adult and pediatric patients that adjusts to three positions.
Assistant's Stool
A stool used by dental assistants to provide upper body and arm support.
Supine Position
Position in which the patient lies flat on their back, suitable for taking dental impressions.
Crown Replacement Position
Position in which the patient is placed to have a crown replaced, typically supine.
Malalignment
Occurs when teeth do not close correctly.
Pediatric Patients
The subsupine position is used only for pediatric patients.
Transfer Zone
The area behind the patient where instruments and materials are exchanged.
Static Zone
The area where the dentist sits, which is also known as the static zone.
Operator's Zone
For left handed operators, the operator's zone is between the positions of 04:00 and 07:00.
Right-Handed Transfer Zone
For right handed operators, the transfer zone is between the positions of 12:00 and 02:00.
Initial Step in Dental Exam
The visual review is typically the initial step in a dental exam.
Mouth Breathing
