Why did London docks decline
New container ships were being used & docks were no longer large enough to hold them.
Competition arose from coastal ports & air transport.
Why have new industries like finance grown?
The government set up the London docklands development corporation to regenerate the docks through attracting private investment

Trees clean the air, reducing the effect of global warming
Reduce danger of flooding and help people keep healthy eg sport

Reduces need for urban sprawl, better public transport , but soil is contaminated and old buildings need to be demolished so expensive

Cheaper, no demolition but increases urban sprawl and valuable farmland is lost

Site was derelict and overgrown, deprived area of London, industries gone
