Dyslipidemia
An abnormal amount of lipids (fats) in the blood, often leading to cardiovascular disease.
Cardiovascular Disease (CVD)
A class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels, including coronary artery disease, hypertension, and stroke.
Monounsaturated fat
A type of fat found in various oils and foods that can improve cholesterol levels.
Saturated fat
A type of fat that can raise levels of cholesterol in the bloodstream, increasing the risk of heart disease.
Triglycerides
A type of fat in the blood that, when elevated, can increase the risk of heart disease.
Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL)
Often referred to as 'bad' cholesterol, high levels can lead to plaque buildup in arteries.
High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL)
Known as 'good' cholesterol, it helps remove other forms of cholesterol from the bloodstream.
Wash-out period
A period of time between different treatments in a study to reduce carryover effects from the previous treatment.
Cross-over study design
A research design in which participants receive multiple interventions in a sequential manner.
