relief that provided work for young men 18-25 years old in food control, planting, flood work, etc.; Creates Jobs
FCA (Farm Credit Administration)
help farmers refinance mortgages over a longer time at below-market interest rates at regional and national banks; supports businesses
NRA (National Recovery Administration)
developed codes of fair competition to govern whole industries, established things like minimum wages, minimum prices for goods, etc. supports businesses
PWA (Public Works Administration)
new deal agency that provided millions of construction jobs, creates jobs
FERA (Federal Emergency Relief Administration)
granted federal funds to state & local agencies to help the unemployed, emergency relief
HOLC (Home Owners Loan Corporation)
loaned money at low interest rates to homeowners who could not make payments, emergency relief
TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority)
built dams in the Tennessee River Valley to control flooding and generate electric power, creates jobs
WPA (Works Progress Administration)
created jobs, started through $5 billion. Built highways, dredged rivers and harbors, and promoted soil and water conservation. provided programs in the arts. employed 8 million people by 1943. Pretty expensive, controversial part, federal number one, coming up.

project comprised of 5 divisions to employ artists, musicians, actors (theater people), and writers
NLRB (National Labor Relations Board)
board made by the Wagner act to enforce the national labor relations act, protects employees' rights to organize and engage in collective bargaining, and it investigates and remedies unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions
