Bone Functions
Acting as levers for movement as they can change size and direction of the force exerted by muscles. They’re also needed for:
- Base Shape and Support for the Body
- Blood Production from Bone Marrow
- Protection for Vital Organs (heart, brain..)
- Hearing (bones in ear)
Anchorages
Firm attachment to one end of a muscle which doesn’t move when it contracts.
EX: Humerus Bone
Insertions
Attachment to one end of a muscle and contracts alongside surrounding tissue when the muscle contracts.
EX: Radius and Ulna
Ligaments
Bone connected to bone
